1970. The St. Paul's
Technical College Old Boys' Association was formed and held
their first Reunion Mass and Annual
Dinner on the 11th November, 1970. Br. F. Hennessy left St.
Paul's at the end of November to
begin the preparation for his final Profession into the
Congregation of Christian Brothers.
1971. Father T. Brophy was
appointed School Chaplain. The second annual reunion of Old
Boys was held. During the Mass, the Association presented a
'beaten' copper sculpture of St. Paul to the school. On
Friday, August 13th, the Parish Priests of Ballarat visited
St. Paul's and met the 'staff.
1973. Two current members of
staff, Mr. David Boadle and Mr. Mark McLean, began their
secondary education at St. Paul's. They obviously liked the
place to return as teachers in the following decade.
1976. The Principal, Br. B.
Scott, left St. Paul's mid-way through the year to do a
Tertianship in Rome. Br. F. D. McGaune took over as Principal.
1978. The intake into the
Form I was in- creased from 50 to 60 boys. The Metalwork
Department saw the addition of a welding section, and the use
of the grounds of the old city baths
for sport and recreation improved teaching facilities of the
school.
1979. The cricket pitches at
the side of the main school building were closed in preparation
for the building of the school's gymnasium.
